Writing For You Now
There is so much inforamtion on health and fitness and I think it's great because it's also a fact that no one-program-fits-all. Speaking from personal experience, I'd like to share some valuable tips when hiring a personal fitness trainer.
If you're a health-conscious person and are looking for a personal trainer for guidance, here are some guidelines you may find very useful.
1. Evaluate your starting point: An extensive discussion is in order before starting any exercise program and your personal trainer will ask you about your physical condition, medications, mental health, and your expectations. Especially your fitness goals.
2. Create a personal plan to fit you: Your personal trainer will create a fitness plan that will include these elements: warm-up, flexibility, strength training, cardiovascular, and cool-down. Your workout time and intensity will be determined based on your starting level of fitness.
3. Monitor your progress: An intergral component used by trainers is monitoring your progress. Seeing how far you’ve come since you started is very helpful when charted as a graph and can be a great boost to your self-confidence.
4. Speak your everyday language: Communication is very important, as you want to understand your trainer. A good match is the trainer that speaks on your level of education, for example: patella versus knee cap or edema versus excess fluid between tissue cells.
5. Take your concerns into account: In understanding your concerns, a good trainer will not force you to get on the balance beam if you’re afraid of falling off. A good personal trainer will walk you through the steps towards your goals, not force you or push you.
6. Explain the benefits of your movements: Knowing the benefits of your movements and the specific muscle groups you are working on can give you greater assurance for your workout and will motivate you to repeat them.
7. Reassess your milestones: If your trainer finds that your milestones are coming up too fast, or you’re moving too slow, reassessment may be necessary to make sure you are accomplishing your set goals. Concrete milestone markers are a part of monitoring.
8. Empower you: This is a real benefit not accounted for in the beginning of your personal training. A good trainer will play a major role in assisting you with your sense of self-confidence and can be a contributing factor in raising your self-esteem.
Staying physically fit can be challenging enough and what's more challenging is finding a good personal trainer. So if you’re seriously considering hiring a personal trainer, be assured that these are not lofty expectations. You're paying for sound advice from an expert and that's what you should receive. I know these have been my expectations and these have been met by my own personal trainer, with whom I've been well pleased.
