Hooray! That time has come to live your dream of running your own business. I know the excitement can be overpowering, and the idea of your own letterhead, matching envelopes, and matching business cards is even more exciting. But hold on to your money just a bit longer. Before you go all out buying all those fancy marketing tools you may want to consider a few points. 1. Experiment with a few designs that will complement your business. Check out other websites for design, color schemes, and logo ideas in your specific area of expertise. You may never copy what they have, but you will certainly get a wealth of ideas for yours.

2. Play with several designs on your computer and check for typographical errors? Printing out your different designs allows you to see what they may look like as a hard copy in regards to font face, font size, and color. Oftentimes what you see on your computer screen may not be what comes out of your printer.

3. Choose your logo wisely. This is very important because people will more likely remember a logo before they remember your name or business. Logos are excellent marketing tools.

4. Go with a professional printing place. These professional will more likely provide you with a proof that you may examine before placing your order. Take it home and sleep on it, especially if the minimum is five hundred business cards, letterhead, and envelopes.

5. Keep a file of all your design and logo ideas. This will help you see how your business is evolving towards your intended goal. All ideas start out small, but just as with your business, your ideas will branch out too.

6. Think about how many business cards are you ordering at a time. You don't want to get stuck with those business cards that don't have your new website address; you know the one you just got after you ordered those two thousand business cards?

7. Double check these important items before printing your business cards, letterhead, and envelopes? Website address, email address, phone number, fax number, logo, and last but not least, the correct spelling of your name.

In the big picture these items may seem insignificant; nevertheless, when starting your own business you'll find that your ideas and plans begin to evolve. The last thing you want to do is throw money down the drain that you would otherwise need for marketing your new business.
