Writing For You Now

Have you ever seen a farmer plant corn or beans from seed in the morning then go back in the afternoon to see if they are growing? Why after all that work they'd better be growing by now! The next day, do you see that same farmer go into the field, single out a seed and say, "Hey you, what are you doing in there? Hurry it up, will you?" On the 3 rd day that same farmer turning to the seeds in the whole field yelling, "Hurry it up you guys, I have to get you sold so I can pay my bills!"

How absurd is that?

How about this one? The couple is expecting a baby; the woman is in her 6 th month of pregnancy. Would the husband go and yell at the wife asking, "Well, where's the baby? You're supposed to be having a baby, so where is it? Hurry it up will you?"

Patience is a virtue" yeah right, for someone else!

That's what it feels like for someone with a goal and great impatience. Some of us are just like that. We want what we want, when we want it. We wanted it yesterday!

The farmer and the husband are merely two examples of absurdity. But why are these two examples absurd? They are absurd because nature has a law in place called a "gestation period". Gestation means a time period for development, whether it's from embryo to a baby, or an idea to a success. The "gestation period" is a law that never fails, and a law we cannot override. Every endeavor has a "gestation period" whether it's physical or abstract.

For best results in any endeavor there must be a plan, here are just a few examples:

1) Construction; to build a house , office, or any type of building you must have a blueprint

2) Farming; to grow the crops you must have the seeds, plants, and fields

3) Business; to thrive you must have a plan of action called a Business Plan

The list is endless as are ideas.

However, here's what experience and years of living have taught me. I've learned that the gestation period also has its benefits. The gestation period allows us time to improve, to make distinctions, to clarify, to rethink, or to refine our ideas or plans.

While the baby is in the "making" the couple may play with names, colors, room dcor, babysitting sources, clothing needs, feeding needs, and best of all each other.

While the crops are in the ground, the farmer may set up irrigation, clean and oil farm equipment, clear out old fields for crop rotation, mark the calendar for farmer market events, plan for produce sales, and last but not least, set up networking with other farmers.

So with that said, don't waste another minute jumping up and down, getting upset, yelling at the baby seeds or the protruding pregnant belly. If it's a business plan, get right to it.

Remember that the "gestation period" has its purpose, and for best results utilize it while you wait.
